Very interesting. Do you feel this relates to uk policing also? Are modern police forces simply a reflection of modern society, in that there is a lessening of a community spirit and therefore less to protect and more to defend from? Obviously the threat from international terrorism also plays a large role, as seen in the recent recruitment drive within the Met. Has this potentially had a negative affect on 'day to day' relations, creating more of an 'us and them' mentality in regards to the public?
